An image I took that has a shallow depth of field would be my fourth photo of the cabinet with the tools in it. The f-stop I used was 5, the ISO was 1600, and the white balance was on incandescent. A photo I took that had a large depth of field was my third photo of the animals. The f-stop I had the camera on was 14, the ISO was 400, and the white balance was fluorescent. In my opinion I think that the fourth photo with the shallow depth of field is better because the blurred background with the in focus foreground gives the photo more character and makes it seem more interesting. You would want to use a shallow depth of field when you are taking a picture of something up close and want it to be the focal point of the photo. You would use a large depth of field if you were taking a photo of something that's further away or you want the entire photo to be in focus.
